(Dr Maria Perez Madrigal)
Hello, my name is Mar! I was born in Barcelona (Spain) and I am postdoctoral researcher at the Dove group (University of Birmingham). In 2015, I obtained my PhD from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) under the supervision of Prof. Carlos Alemán and Dr Elaine Armelin (IMEM group). Back then, my research focused on combining conducting polymers (CPs) with conventional polymers to obtain biointerfaces at the nanoscale for different bioapplications.
I got so fascinated about the possibility of designing biomaterials that could potentially help the body heal itself, that I joined the Dove group in 2016 as a Marie-Curie Fellow for developing polymer-based hydrogels as scaffolds for tissue regeneration. Apart from spending time in the lab, I really love reading, hiking, cooking, travelling, and spending quality time with friends and family.
